Book Reviews

This is a cross-section of reviews I've received in the press over the years. So far (and I touch wood as I say it) I've had very few dodgy reviews and for that I'm extremely grateful. RUBY and GRACIE have gathered a lot between them on Amazon and the majority are 4 & 5 stars for which is fabulous.

I receive many e.mails through my website and blog, most of which are really complimentary although occasionally someone will query the use of 'bad language', especially in the gritty Bernardine Kennedy books, but I like to think I never use it gratuitously, only the character uses it and I try to keep it in that character.

Of course I love good reviews but I can also accept criticism so I hope everyone keeps letting me know how I'm doing. I'm still really surprised and appreciative that people I don't know take the time and effort to contact me.

'really enjoyed this book, couldn't put it down'.

'good follow on from Ruby, well written and kept me interested right to the end. Can't wait for the next one'.

'loved the pace of the story, I was gripped'

Very enjoyable book from start to finish and knowing the area in which it is set, adds to the enjoyment. All of the characters are likeable in their own way and complete the story. Am looking forward to the follow up "Gracieā€

Cracking read, well written characters living out the challenges of life in the 1940's and 50's. A great one for the beach.

This was the first Marie Maxwell book I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it - the story kept me up for hours as I could not put it down. Lots of twists and turns. I normally read Kitty Neale, Maureen Lee and Lesley Pearse and this is another author I will add to my list :)
